Abstract

The secondary winding of a transformer is in the form of a closed loop or band consisting of an alloy containing 20.2 per cent cadmium, 53.9 per cent bismuth, and 25.9 per cent tin. The alloy melts at 103 DEG C. Other alloys may be used, for example one consisting of 49.5 per cent bismuth, 10.1 per cent cadmium, 27.27 per cent lead and 13.13 per cent tin, the alloy melting at 70 DEG C. An alloy melting at 183 DEG C. consists of 38 per cent lead and 62 per cent tin.
