Abstract

664,533. Ventilators. ROEVAC AIR. EXTRACTORS, Ltd. April 3, 1950 [April 1, 1949], No. 8837/49. Class 137 Ventilators, particularly for vehicles, comprise concentric ingress and egress passages 17, 19 passing through the wall or roof of an enclosure and communicating respectively with inner and outer lateral channels which are arranged parallel with the wall or roof and are open at one or both ends to receive and discharge air; the outer channel structure carries the inner passage 19. The channels are divided by a plate 8 from the underside of which depend baffles 13, 14 in the inlet channel. Holes in the side walls of the casing allow water retained by a flange 16 round the inlet passage to drain away. A fretted plate 20 fits over the end of the outlet passage and may be bent up as shown or extend horizontally, directing air along the ceiling. An embodiment with inlet and outlet louvres at both ends is centrally divided by transverse baffles between the inlet passage and side walls, and the plate dividing the two channels forms an inclined baffle at both ends in front of the inlet louvres.
