Abstract

663,058. Loose-leaf binders. PEDANTE, R., and TORRICELLA, C. May 7, 1949, No. 12229/49. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Nov. 19, 1949.] Class 146 (i). In a loose-leaf binding device comprising arch like members pivoted so as to close up to or move away from fixed posts to allow removal or insertion of papers, the arch like members are actuated by a turret member turnable about its axis and provided with a helicoidal guide or groove engaged by an extension of the movable members. Fixed posts 2 are secured to a base plate 1 and arched posts 4, 5, joined by a V-shaped piece 6 are pivoted to the plate 1 by lugs 9 cut out therefrom, the V piece 6 engaging the helicoidal groove 14 on a turret 12 rotatably mounted on the plate 1 by a pivot pin 13. A single groove 14 may be provided, as shown, the turret being rotated in reverse directions to open and close the device, or alternatively grooves joined top and bottom and having a contrary sense may be provided. A projecting thread may replace the groove 14, the thread engaging a slot in the V- piece 6. A number of alternative connections for the turret to the plate 1 are shown and described.
