Abstract

659,704. Changing signs. ANDERSSON, J. L. Oct. 4, 1949, No. 25517. [Class 3(i)] A sign comprises a plurality of rodshaped members 2 mounted for rotation in a frame 1, one end of each member 2 being detachably connected by spring-loaded locking means 6 with the shaft of a pinion 3 mounted in one part of the frame, the other end of each member 2 being mounted on a guide 11 arranged at an opposite part of the frame, the members 2 being of circular cross-section and arranged to form a wave-shaped continuous surface each rod bearing parts of a plurality of designs so that partial rotation of the rods changes the design. The rods are rotated through 180 degrees first in one direction and then in the other to show one or other of two designs by a rack 12 which engages the pinions 3 and which is connected to an electric motor by an arm 13 and an eccentric which comprises an offset ring 14 connected to the arm 13 and a roller carrying arm 19 connected to the motor. The members 2 may be transparent or opaque and illuminating means may be provided.
