659,292. Cooking ovens. PARKINSON STOVE CO., Ltd., and CROMBIE, C. J. Jan. 5, 1949, No. 251. [Class 126] A gas cooker oven has its gas supply to the burners controlled by. a thermostat of the rod and tube type mounted outside the oven, the tube being enclosed by a sheath integral with a plate of high conductivity material which extends into the oven itself. The thermostat is mounted on top of the oven so that its tube j is in vertical alignment with a side wall e of the oven. The sheath k is integral with a copper plate which extends through packing q in a slot r in the crown of the oven, the plate l being bent horizontally within the oven and secured to the crown of the oven but insulated from it by an asbestos strip n. Notches are cut in the horizontal part of the plate and extend some distance up the inclined part so that local variations in temperature are transmitted rapidly to the thermostat tube j. The thermostat tube j and copper plate l are enclosed in packing forming part of the oven crown.
