Abstract

659,227. Roofs. JENKINS, R. W. May 26, 1949, No. 14151. [Class 20(iv)] In roofs comprising an outer rigid lining, e.g. of corrugated iron sheets, and an inner lining of insulating board, the sagging of the latter between the roof purlins is prevented by providing supports intermediate of, and running parallel to, the purlins, the supports being secured to the outer lining by bolts. In the form shown, a number of purlins 3 support a fibre board inner lining 2 and a corrugated iron outer lining 1. Adjacent horizontal edges of the boards are supported on hollow D-section members 4, which are slotted throughout their length on the flat face, and secured to the sheets 1 by bolts 5, the heads of which engage in the members 4 whilst the shanks pass out through the slots. The length of each member 4 is equal to the width of sheets 2, adjacent members being joined by junction pieces 8. Adjacent sloping edges of the sheets are supported on inverted T-section members 10.
