Abstract

654,630. Photographic processes. GEVAERT PHOTO-PRODUCTEN N. V. Sept. 4, 1946, No. 26569. Convention date, March 20, 1941. Addition to 614,155. [Class 98 (ii)] In the production of a silver image in a receiving surface by diffusion of the unreduced silver halide from an exposed and developed silver halide emulsion layer in contact therewith either during or after development of the emulsion layer and by simultaneous reduction of the diffused silver halide in the receiving layer in presence of substances acting as development nuclei, finely-divided heavy metals or insoluble metal salts or metalloids which neither develop or reduce the silver halide or form less soluble compounds therewith are used as development nuclei. In example 1, paper is coated with gelatin containing colloidal silver to form a receiving layer, and this is immersed in a developer containing hypo during the development of a negative print on silver chlorobromide paper. The print is then contacted with the receiving layer for 10 minutes, and on separation the receiving layer carries a positive image, which may be toned in a selenium toning bath. In example 2, paper is coated with gelatin containing hypo and barium chloride, and the procedure is similar to example 1 using a print made by reflex copying on silver chloride paper. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a receiving support prepared by coating paper with a composition made by mixing aqueous mercuric chloride with aqueous gelatin containing sodium hydrosulphite and allowing to stand to form colloidal mercury and then mixing with further aqueous gelatin. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
