654,180. Screw conveyers. INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER CO. OF GREAT BRITAIN, Ltd. (International Harvester Co.). Jan. 30, 1948, No. 2814. [Class 78 (i)] [Also in Group I] Conveying means for a harvester include twin oppositely-acting screw conveyers 15, 16 for feeding the grain to a point between them, and transverse feeding elements 28 for feeding this grain transversely on to an elevator 17, the elements projecting beyond the juxtaposed conveyer core ends. Fig. 1.-The harvester is moved forward and the grain is cut by cutter-bar 13, gathered on to platform 10, and fed inwards by oppositelyacting screws 15, 16 on to the elevator 17 which elevates the grain on its underside whilst pressing it against the rear of the elevator. Paddles 28, 29 are secured respectively by members 30, 31 to the end of screws 15, 16 and are spaced to be diametrically opposed so as to feed the grains received from the two screws on to the elevator 17. Each paddle may have a part extensible in a slot so that the space between the two screws may be varied.
