[Class 108(i)] A vehicle flooring comprises elongated metal planks laid side by side upon and supported by cross bearers of the vehicle body underframe, each plank including at least a pair of longitudinally extending ribs which project downwardly from the plank into engagement with the cross-bearers and each of which is formed with a laterally projecting flange underlying the upper surface of the plank and clamping members which engage over these flanges and secure the planks to the cross-bearers. The floor comprises a plurality of planks 1 of extruded metal or alloy each having a flat upper surface 1a, side ribs 1b provided with inwardly extending flanges 1c and a central rib 2 having oppositely disposed flanges 2a. The flanges are in a common plane and rest on cross-bearers 3, to the upper flanges 3a of which they are secured by means of plate clips 5 each formed with a projecting lug to engage under the upper flange of the appropriate cross-bearer and arranged to clamp adjacent planks together. When planks are joined lengthwise the butts are located over a cross-bearer in staggered formation so that no two joints are adjacent and the butted planks are connected to adjacent continuous planks by clips (Fig. 3, not shown) arranged on the web side of the appropriate cross-bearer. The cross-bearer at the rear end of the floor is provided with an upstanding extension of the web to form an endwise location for the planks and angle section members may be provided along each side of the floor to prevent merchandise sliding off. In an 'alternative construction the planks may be fluted lengthwise and their longitudinal edges shaped to enable adjacent planks to overlap in interlocking relationship. In either construction the planks may be formed with a non- slip surface.
