Abstract
646,708. Reinforced concrete. FREYSSINET, E. July 1, 1947, No. 17329. Convention date, March 23, 1945. [Class 20(iv)] A reinforcement for pre-stressed concrete comprises a rod of polygonal crosssection which is twisted in itself over at least a certain length near its ends so as to present a number of helical spires wound in one direction followed by a number wound in the opposite direction. A wire 1 of square or lozenge shaped crosssection with rounded corners is clamped at points a, b, c, e.g. 20-30 cm. apart, and a twist imparted by a tool at points t<SP>1</SP>, t<SP>2</SP> to form oppositely wound helices between each pair of clamps. The twisting may be effected over the whole length or at each end only. The clamps may be rotated oppositely to the tools.
