640,335. Sheet piles. WILLIAMSON, A. May 4, 1948, No. 12229. [Class 68 (ii)] A rolled metal pile unit comprises an open channel section 1, 8, the edges of which are formed with dovetail parts 5, 6, the joint parts of one unit mating with co-operating opposed joint parts of adjacent units. Each joint part comprises at least one flange, e.g. 6a, Fig. 3, or 5e, 6a and 6b, Fig. 4, which is originally directed forwardly and is subsequently upset by the rolling, by being turned over angularly thereby to the positions shown to form a dovetail key. The mated joint parts lie on or near the neutral axis N-N<SP>1</SP> of the run of the piling.
