Abstract

639,244. Making chain links. FISHER & LUDLOW, Ltd. April 8, 1948, No. 9812. [Classes 83 (i) and 83 (ii)] [Also in Group XXX] A conveyer comprises pairs of links, 10, 11 connected together by a connecting member 12 provided with two holes disposed transversely of the chain and at right angles to one another in parallel, but spaced, planes to take the connecting pins for the links. These pins carry rollers at their ends. The connecting member 12 may be made by taking two similar metal bars and welding them together, medially of their lengths so that they extend at right angles to one another, Fig. 5, after which the bars are drilled axially of their length to form each into a tube 15. Alternatively the member 12 may be a die-casting which is afterwards machined. Preferably member 12 is made by diecasting metal around a pair of cylindrical bearing liners 29, Fig. 5, which are supported within the casting mould at right angles to each other.
