636,968. Dolls and toy animals. PLAYLASTIC TOY CO., Ltd., and KLEIN, P. Sept. 19, 1947, No. 25564. [Class 132 (iii)] A toy made from rubber or other soft mouldable material having bendable limbs has a supporting framework embedded therein, the said framework being flexible at some or all of the joints and inflexible between the joints. Preferably part or all of the toy is made from sponge rubber. The framework may be flexible being made from wire or metal bands stiffened where necessary between the joint by wood or thermoplastic material enclosing the wire or bands. The wire may bend at the joints, or hinges may be provided. Wooden stiffeners may be bored and threaded on the wire before it is bent into shape, or split and attached by gluing the pieces together after shaping. Preferably the wood is secured to the wire by adhesive. The body may be made by placing the framework in a suitably shaped hollow mould and then filling this with liquid latex foam which is vulcanized when solid. Elements may be incorporated at the neck by which the head is attached and these may be used to locate the skeleton in the mould. A latex skin, preferably flesh coloured may be attached to the body after moulding or formed on the body during moulding. Toy animals may be covered with hair, wool or the like. Preferably vulcanization is done by electronic heating, also setting and/or drying. Foamed polyvinyl chloride or unfoamed rubber or thermoplastic material maybe used. In the drawing stiffeners are indicated by broken lines and the wires by dotted lines. The arms are hinged at the shoulder 27 and elbow 26 and the legs at the knee 210 and hip 211. The hinges are formed by a rivet 212 passing through loops 213 and an annulus 214 of thick paper. A similar doll may be made in which there are no hinges and the wire bends at the various joints.
