Abstract

635,443. Glazing or mounting strip for panels &c. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. April 14, 1948, No. 10317. Convention date, April 22, 1947. [Classes 20 (iii) and 20 (iv)] [Also in Group XIII) A mounting or connecting strip 20 of resilient material has a pair of opposed grooves 22, 24 to receive the edge portions of adjacent members 26, 28 to be joined &c. a longitudinal wedge receiving recess 30 therebetween, and a wedge-like filler strip 32 which is adapted to be forced into the recess 30 to cause the walls of the grooves 22, 24 to grip the edge portions and is formed integrally with the main strip. The wedge 32 may be connected to the upper lip 36 of the groove 24 by a flap 34 which takes the form of a longitudinal tubular resilient sealing strip 35 when the wedge is inserted in the recess 30. If no cushion is required the flap is reduced as at 42, Fig. 3, so that it is in contact with the main strip when the wedge is in position. Fig. 5 shows a construction with a double filler strip, a second wedge with a flap 40 being formed on the side opposite to the first strip and flap 34. The strip may be used in cars or refrigerators &c. to join panels or the like, or mount instrument panels or glass, or to fit an inner door panel to a refrigerator and seal between the door and the cabinet.
