Abstract

635,089. Insulating bushings. HEYMAN MANUFACTURING CO. July 1, 1947, No. 17289. Convention date, March 2, 1946. [Class 36] A strain relief bushing comprises two parts 1, 13, the part 1 having a flange 2 adapted to engage a mounting plate 3 and being provided with a longitudinally extending channel 6 in which is a recess 7 and guide channels 8, 9, and the part 13 having a downwardly extending portion 17 with sides that fit into channels 8, 9 and a lower edge recessed to engage a conductor C. The end 14 of the part 13 is also flanged to engage the mounting plate 3. The bushing is assembled around the conductor C and forced into the plate 3, the portions 12 and 15 of the parts 1, 13 being tapered to assist in this. The projection 17 pushes the conductor C into the recess 7, thereby locking the conductor in position. In a modification (Figs. 8-11, not shown), the upper part of the bushing may also have a longitudinal channel which is intercepted by the downward projection. If desired, this projecting part may be made as a separate piece.
