Abstract

635,024. Loud - speakers; diaphragms. GOODMANS INDUSTRIES, Ltd., and HOSKER, G. R. Aug. 25, 1947, No. 23452. [Class 40 (iv)] A moving coil loud-speaker diaphragm 11 is mounted on a chassis by means of divided or bifurcated strips 14, 18 of resilient material, the arms of each strip being oppositely flexed at right angles to the plane of the strip. The strips may be formed of linen impregnated with synthetic resin or metal. The spider holding the apex of the diaphragm comprises an annulus 13 formed integrally with three bifurcated strips 14, the ends of which are clamped to inclined surfaces on the chassis by means of blocks 6 and bolts 17. Strips 18 are glued to the periphery of the diaphragm and are clamped to the chassis by blocks 10 and bolts 19. The chassis comprises upper and lower annular members 3 and 2 spaced by arms 4, the blocks 6 being secured to the member 2. A unit comprising two concentric rings 7, 8 and spacing arms 9 carries the blocks 10.
