Abstract

615,282. Cylinders. ALVIS, Ltd., DUNN, W. M., and KINGHAM, C. D. July 30, 1946, No. 22647. [Class 7 (ii)] A combustion chamber 32, which is substantially restricted to a space in a cylinder head detached on the line 16 from the cylinder block, has its centre slightly outside the line of the cylinder bore and the exhaust valve 25 located therein; it is thus almost entirely surrounded by water jackets 13, 33, and higher compression ratios may be used. The sparking-plug is located at 35 coaxially with the valve 25, and the inlet valve is placed in the flat part of the cylinder head closely approached by the piston.
