Abstract

614,394. Metal &c. building units. COOKSON, W., and BRITISH ARTIFICIAL RESIN CO., Ltd. April 12, 1945, No. 9160. [Classes 20 (ii) and 87(i)] Metal or composition board building units are connected together by resilient tongue and groove members. In one form, Figs. 4 and 5, the tongue member comprises a resilient channel element 27 having out-turned edges which engage behind shoulders 29 on bent back portions 28 of flat and corrugated metal sheets 24, 25 forming the unit. In one modification, the channel and shoulders are carried by composition boards. In another modification, the unit comprises two corrugated metal sheets enclosed by two flat sheets and the shoulders are formed in the corrugated sheets. In another form, Fig. 6, a rigid tongue 30 co-operates with resilient groove elements 34. In these forms, release is effected by a longitudinal sliding movement; to decrease the extent of this, the tongue and groove members may be gapped instead of continuous. In a further form, Fig. 9, the tongue 46 and groove 50 are curved to permit lateral disengagement. The junction of two units at right angles is effected by forming the groove member in one face of the unit.
