Abstract

613,304. Delivering measured quantities of liquids. STONE, W. June 18, 1946, No. 18233. Convention date, Feb. 7. [Class 106(v)] Apparatus for delivering a fixed measured quantity of from a bottle to which it is fitted, comprises storage and pouring compartments 12, 13, a register 39 for registering the number of measured quantities dispensed and a locking device which prevents removal of the apparatus except on breakage of the bottle. When the bottle is tilted for pouring, liquid flows through a ball-valve 17 to fill the storage compartment 12, as liquid in the pouring compartment 13 is delivered through pouring opening 18 and registered on the register 39 by the action of balls 45, 46 on a counter arm 42. On returning the bottle to an upright position, half the liquid in the compartment 12 passes through the ball-valve 17 into the pouring compartment 13 ready for pouring when the bottle is tilted again. Atmospheric pressure is maintained within the apparatus by vent holes 19, 20. Arms 36 attached to a toggle 35 are kept apart by springs so that the apparatus may only be withdrawn from the bottle when it is broken.
