Abstract
613,243. Juice extracting machines. KARP, Z., and KOFFLER, M. June 12, 1946, No. 17634. Convention date, Aug. 29, 1945. [Class 28(ii)] In a machine for extracting fruit juice comprising intermittently rotating drums 1, 2 which move in opposite directions and are provided with one or more rows of cups 5, 5' for the fruit, and the fruit after cutting by a knife 27 is subjected to the crushing action of heads 20, 20<1> to extract the juices. Fixed guide wires 29, 29' are provided to retain the fruit in the lowest cups. The heads are slotted so as to accommodate the wires during operation of the heads. The drums are actuated by a pawl and ratchet mechanism 9, 10, 11, 12 which is operated by a wheel 13 geared to an electric motor 17 which also drives bevel gears 31 to rotate a shaft 26. Cams 25, 25<1> on the shaft 26 actuate the heads 20, 20<1> which are provided with cups 21, 21<1> from which the juice is drained through flexible pipes 31, 31<1>. Rotating fingers 32 may be employed to remove the peel after the extraction of the juice.
