Abstract

611,090. Dishwashing-apparatus. STAINES KITCHEN EQUIPMENT CO., Ltd., and BENNETTS, A. E. April 15, 1946, No. 11508. [Class 138 (i)] A dishwashing-unit comprises two parallel driving spindles 8 rotatably driven in opposite directions, each spindle engaging a detachable brush 19, and a dish-supporting device 22-25 arranged in alignment with the line of intersection of the brushes and positioned so that the brushes act on one side of the centre of the dishes to impart a rotary motion thereto. The support consists of three guide rollers 22 on spindles 23 mounted in arms 24 spaced so that dishes of small diameter rest on the two lower rollers while large dishes are supported by all three rollers. Each arm 24 is attached to an L-shaped bracket 25. Each brush 19 is attached by a bayonet slot 21 in a metal sleeve 20 on the brush, engaging a spigot 17 projecting from a spindle 8, the spindles entering a sink from a casing 9 containing a driving motor 10 and gearing 11, 11a. The spindles 8 are slidably mounted in a sleeve 12 mounted on the sink by a flange 13 and water-sealing member 15, so that when one or both brushes are removed releasing the thrust of sleeve 20 against a plate 31, the spindle 8 slides under the power of a spring 28 to operate a switch 27, thereby stopping the motor. The unit may be separate or permanently attached to the sink.
