605,227. Well pumps. ELLITSGAARD, C. M. Dec. 18, 1945, No. 34288. Convention date, Jan. 26, 1943. [Class 102 (i)] A well pump comprises a bucket 3 to which is attached two actuating pistons 5, 10 working in cylinders 12, 12<1> respectively. These cylinders are connected by pipes 38, 39 and 381, 39<1> to cylinders 36, 36<1> in which reciprocate pistons 35, 351 to alternately move the liquid in the pipes to reciprocate the bucket 3. In order to compensate for leakages that may occur in the system, the pipes are connected by valves 30, 30<1> to a liquid 'container 27 and the displacement. of the pistons 35, 351 is greater than that of the pistons 5, 10, e.g. 8 per cent, and during the inward stroke of the pistons 35, 351, liquid is withdrawn from the pipes and further liquid drawn through valve 30 or 30<1> whilst on the outward stroke of the pistons 35, 35<1> excess liquid is discharged through the relief valve 33 or 33<1> back to the container 27. The container 27 is connected to the pump delivery pipe 24 through a float-controlled valve.
