Abstract

In the production of a manure consisting of towns' refuse and sewage or sewage sludge, the latter is introduced by pipes or the like on to the top of the refuse which has been fed into a long and relatively narrow chamber and the contents of the chamber are then turned over repeatedly by a plough, harrow or similar device secured to a travelling carriage so mounted that it can be moved transversely and lengthways of the chamber. Two chambers may be arranged side by side having a common feed.
