Abstract
<PICT:0591993/III/1> In a building sheet consisting of a metal sheet 10 provided on one or both surfaces with a layered coating consisting of a fibrous layer 12 affixed to the metal sheet by an interposed adhesive layer 14 and an outer bituminous coating 18, the outer bituminous coating is rendered flame-retardant by having incorporated therein soaps of manganese, iron, zinc, chromium, cobalt, aluminium, magnesium, and barium in an amount not exceeding 15 per cent. of the bituminous composition. The fibrous layer 12 may be impregnated with a bituminous composition and the adhesive 14 may be bituminous; either or both of these bituminous compositions may contain a metal soap as specified. Alternatively, the adhesive 14 may be metallic. Waxes and resins may be added to the bituminous compositions. Specifications 391,936 and 467,142, [both in Group VIII], are referred to.
