Abstract
590,483. Stud - and - socket fastenings. CAMLOCK FASTENER CORPORATION. Oct. 17, 1944, No. 20091. Convention date, Oct. 14, 1943. [Class 44] In separable fasteners of the stud and socket type one or other of the fastener elements, for instance the socket portion, is floating mounted between a cage portion and a base-plate. The cage portion 10, Fig. 1, has a raised square portion 18, and the socket element, Fig. 2, has a flange 26, fitting loosely within the raised portion 18, the assembly being completed by a base plate 11, Fig. 3, which is preferably formed with triangular end parts 14 having eyelets or tubes 15 adapted to enter apertures 23 on the cage part and to be pressed over to secure the parts together, and to receive the rivets by means of which the fastener is secured to the material. The cage part has an aperture 22 through which the body 24 of the fastener element passes, and the base-plate 11 an aperture 17 through which the other element, e.g., a stud element, passes into the socket. The aperture 22 is made with clearance, and the flange 26 is of the same shape as the raised part of the cage, but of smaller dimensions.
