[Class 132 (ii)] A machine for shuffling and dealing balls marked to represent playing cards comprises a ramp having a portion 47 hinged at 54 to an upper part 55 and raised and lowered, in order to shuffle the balls, by a handle 53 projecting through the side of a box 68 surrounding the machine. A gate comprising a heavy top 51, a leading wall 39 with a lip 40, and a trailing wall 38 is pivotally connected across the box and can be rocked by a handle 37 extending through the side of the box to permit the passage of one line of balls at a time. These balls then roll down channels on the top of a trap door 43, through an opening in the wall 60 and along similar channels on the top 15 of a receiver 59 which is attached to the box. By depressing a handle 27 and thus lifting the trap door 43, the balls drop into corresponding channels on a ramp 49 and then through another opening in the wall 60 into pockets 19 in the body of the receiver 59, each pocket being separately removable..A wall 35 across the box, and guides 44 on the sides of the portion 47 retain the balls in position while they are being shuffled. By turning a handle 33, an arm 34 is moved out of contact with a latch 36, and a spring 69 swings the gate upwards to allow balls to be rolled back up the ramp.
