[Class 40 (ii)] In a magazine gramophone of the kind in which the records to be played are stacked on an offset shoulder on a post extending axially of the turntable, the stack has fixed and movable edge supports, the movable support being latched on the fixed support, but being released when a record of large diameter is lowermost to allow the record to fall The release of the latch serves to set the tone-armpositioning mechanism. In Fig. 1, plate 9 is the movable support pivoted at 10 on the fixed support 8. Support 9 is normally latched in record-supporting position by a latch 11 mounted on the fixed support and having a nose 13 engaging a projection 14 on the support 9, and a projection 15 extending into the path of a record of large diameter. Support 9, bar 18 and lever 24, 25 are reset by engagement of a cam 16 on disc 2 with bar 18. Projection 28 is also reset to position the pick-up for loading on a small record after a large record has been played by engagement with a fixed projection as disc 2 rotates.
