Abstract

581,048. Snap-action switches. HOPE, V. Aug. 4, 1944, Nos. 14884/44 and 4215/45. [Class 38 (v)] A snap-action, push-pull switch, which may incorporate a fuse, has a carrier 14 operated by a hand-actuated plunger 18, and carrying a cartridge-type fuse 17 held in a pair of screw clips which may be integral with a pair of contact blades 31. The fixed contacts 13 are mounted on an insulating block 20 and formed integrally with their cable sockets 23. A flat bar 41, fixed to the rod 18, is accommodated in a slot in the carrier 14 to which it is fixed by split-pins through bases 36, 37. The bar 41 is guided in slots in a chassis 44 depending from the lid 11 which can be removed by sliding out of locating lugs 48. In the "on" position the bar 41 engages a pair of projections 47 on the box to prevent motion of the lid. An isolator switch for a neutral line comprises a blade 29a mounted on the carrier 14 and bridging contacts 26 fixed to the block 20. A dead-centre, snap-action device 19, Fig. 4, acts on the bar 41 at a slot 43. In modifications the fuse caps may engage the stationary contacts directly or the fuse may be replaced by a bridging member.
