Abstract
579,646. Sound directing appliances. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., and ROUND, H. J. Sept. 29, 1941, No. 12609. [Class 13] [Also in Group XXXIX] A sound or like transmitting or receiving ararrangement comprising a diaphragm d at the focus of a parabolic reflector m is provided with an additional reflector so arranged that it reflects back on tc the main mirror energy that would otherwise be radiated directly in undesired directions. The additional reflector may take the form of a flat plate or of a cup-shaped member c which may practically surround the diaphragm, Fig. 5 (not shown), or of a logarithmic horn, Fig. 7 (not shown). The diameter of the diaphragm may be one half or one whole wave-length, and the distance between the diaphragm and the auxiliary reflecting member may be an integral number of half wave-lengths.
