Abstract
579,433. Washing air. COMMUNICATIONS PATENTS, Ltd., and DUMBRILL, H. W. March 29, 1944, No. 5753. [Class 55 (ii)] Sawing, cutting, abrading or other machines incorporate dust-treating apparatus as a unitary structure comprising a casing accommodating liquid-mixing and sludge settling chambers. The casing 14 has an upper compartment containing a fan 16 and motor 17 and a motor 22 driving a liquid pump 21 in a lower compartment or settling chamber 20. The fan intake communicates with a cowled inlet 27 above the water level, dust-laden air being drawn through a duct 29 and mixing chamber 18 providing a labyrinth formed by superposed plates 28 ; liquid is sprayed from a pipe 34 fed by pump 21 into the chamber and flows over the plates into the settling chamber whence sludge is withdrawn through a port 37. In a modification the dust-treating plant is built in the cutting &c., machine, e.g., a cutting- off machine as described in Specification 564,641, [Group XXIII], as a unitary structure.
