Abstract
574,500. Discharge apparatus. PHILLIPS LAMPS, Ltd., PRESSEL, 6., and DIEPSTRATEN, G. A. M. Feb. 3, 1944, No. 2022. [Class 39 (i)] [Also in Group XXXVI] In Rontgen-ray tubes or other electric discharge devices of the kind in which an intermediate metal collar is provided between the glass and metal elements to be sealed, the intermediate member embraces the metal element on a surface inclined to the axis of the latter. As shown in Fig. 1, the stem 7 of the anode 2 is connected to the glass envelope 5 by a metal collar 6 which is sealed to the glass and soldered &c. between a coned step 8 on the stem 7 and a ring 9. Fig. 3 shows a modification in which the recess provided by the seating 13 and ring 14 is oppositely-inclined ; and the intermediate element 15 is sealed to a separately-formed glass sleeve 16 for attachment to the main glass envelope in the final assembly.
