Abstract

567,183. Conveyers. FALLON, J. April 2, 1943, No. 5277. [Class 78 (i)] A light-weight conveyer for passing goods through furnaces, particularly light irregularlyshaped goods through high-temperature furnaces, comprises a pair of endless side chains a between which extend spring-tensioned wires b. The chains a are located one on each side of the furnace f<2> and the wires b pass through passageways f<1> in the furnace sides, and are the only part of the conveyer exposed to the heat of the furnace. The passageways f<1> are continuous, the roof and base of the furnace' being held apart by an external frame f to allow of this. The chains a have riding rollers d located between rails e, and the outer links a<1> of the chains are U-shaped. to carry horizontal rollers o bearing on the sides of the rails e. A spring c on one or both ends of each wire b keeps it in tension, and linked blades g extending downward from the chains into a sand seal h prevent undue loss of heat through the passageways f<1>. A plate j can be adjustably fixed to close the gap above the blades g.
