Abstract

566,871. Electric insulators. CLARK, C. H. W., and STEATITE & PORCELAIN PRODUCTS, Ltd. May 12, 1943, No. 7544. [Class 36] The fittings for securing insulators for high - tension systems together or to supports have arc-deflectors 15 which project over the fittings and are directed away from the insulators. In the form shown, the insulator 1 has an integral shoulder 12 secured by cleats 13 and bolts 14 to a transformer casing 5. The arcing member 15, integral with the cleat 13 or secured between the cleat and the bolt head, deflects the arc towards the usual arcing ring 16 which is supported by members 17. In a modification, the deflector is integral with or connected to the stem of the bolt or to a second nut, when a stud and nut are used.
