Abstract

566,054. Mine-sweeping. CHANT, J. Feb. 1, 1940, No. 1972. [Class 9 (ii)] [Also in Group VI] A trawling &c. net is provided with floats 20 mounted on the head-line 17 or an auxiliary line 16 connected by ties 18 to the head-line, so that the floats form a part of the head-line &c. The line may pass through the floats or be connected to eyes on spindles 21 on which the floats rotate. The floats have vanes 23 so that the pressure of the water thereon causes the floats to rotate. In another form, the floats are mounted on the headline in gaps formed in the net. The floats may be incorporated in a front cable of mine-sweeping gear.
