Abstract
565,519. Telephone transmission systems. WESTERN ELECTRIC CO., Inc. April 21, 1943, No. 6389. Convention date, April 21, 1942. [Class 40 (iv)] [Also in Group XL] An electrical device 13, such as an electron discharge device forming part of a repeater, is mounted resiliently within a cylindrical casing 10, which may form part of an underwater cable, by means of hollow spacer members 21 which make a sliding fit within the casing. Rubber collars 16 are interposed between the end caps 14 of the device and the spacers 21, which have a groove 24 and flange 22 interlocking with a corresponding flange and groove on collars 16. Conducting tapes 29 connecting the leads from the device to other parts of the circuit pass through longitudinal slots 26 in the spacers. The spacers are fixed to the cylinder 10 by radial pins (not shown). The cylinder 10 is a transparent plastic, for example, the methylmethacrylate composition " Lucite."
