Abstract
556,753. Securing panels. WRIGHT, G. C., and GYPROC PRODUCTS, Ltd. April 16, 1942, No. 5085. [Class 20 (iv)] Means for securing panels 11, 11A, of the kind described in Specifications 387,225 and 528,612, comprising supporting strips 12 bent into a form which includes flanges 13, 14, are held together by a tie member extending transversely of the wall and consisting of two sheet metal parts 17, 17A placed back to back. Each part is pressed from a sheet metal blank, the flanges 18 being of a width slightly less than the width of the slot 16 in the supporting strip 12. In assembling, two panels 11A on opposite sides of the wall are placed in position and engaged by two strips 12. A tie member 17A is then inserted in its slot, resting on a horizontal part 10 of the wall frame. A tie member 17 is then similarly inserted in its slot, but above the member 17A, and then slid into position back to back with the member 17A, and retained by co-operating deformations 19, 20. Further panels 11 are then added. In supporting panels from floor or roof beams 21, Figs. 3, 4, the tie member 22 has a flange 24 extending into the strip 12 and its upper part is stepped at 25 to engage over the beam 21, its upper edge having a flange 26. The member 23 has an arm 28 extending over the beam 21, with a hooked end 29. A flange 30 extends over flange 26, and one corner is bent over flange 26 as in Fig. 4, after assembly.
