Abstract

551,771. Marking metal articles. DELORO SMELTING & REFINING CO., Ltd. (of CANADA), and RIDDIHOUGH, M. Jan. 5, 1942, No. 127. [Class 41] Steel or other metal articles F are marked with printed &c. matter from a waxed paper stencil D by electrolytic action, the current being passed from the articles, which are disposed under an anode block A, through blotting paper C<SP>1</SP> wetted with the electrolyte (a solution of hydrochloric acid or sodium chloride) to the cathode block B. A voltage of 12 volts is conveniently employed. Cylindrical articles may be rolled over the stencil under pressure from block A, or the absorbent material and stencil may be disposed on a rotating drum under which the articles are passed.
