[Class 38 (iv)] [Also in Group XXXVI] An incandescent lamp 4 in series with the filaments 1 ... 3 of one or more amplifying tubes, e.g. a scale illuminating lamp in a radio receiver, is protected against excess voltage When switching on by one or more rectifiers 7 of the blocking layer type connected in shunt with the lamp. In circuits for connection to A.C. mains two rectifiers, or series connected groups of rectifiers, are arranged in series in the shunt circuit and oppositely poled. The arrangement also serves to indicate polarity of a D.C. supply. Specification 551,443 is referred to.
