549,068. Treating liquids with vapour and gases. FOSTER WHEELER, Ltd, Nov. 22, 1941, Nos. 15065 and 15066. Convention dates, Nov. 22, 1940 and Jan. 10, 1941. [Class 55 (ii)] A packing for a fractionating column or other vapour and liquid contact apparatus is built up of film forming units 11 having straight sides and placed across the area of the column with the sides of adjacent units in contact with one another. Units may be superposed to form straight-sided sections which are assembled with their sides in contact, and 'they may be made of capillary sheet material with raised portions forming cells, as described in Specification 451,014.
