545,217. Hydraulic pumps and motors. AIRCRAFT HYDRAULIC APPLIANCES, Ltd., and WYLIE, H. N. Jan. 5, 1941, No. 16104/40. [Class 102 (i)] [Also in Group XXIX] In a revolving radial cylinder hydraulic pump or motor in which each plunger 12 bears on a transverse axle 22 carrying a pair of pads or wheels 29 which co-operate with an eccentric track 10, each axle rests in a slot 21 in the plunger and has a circumferential width which is less than its depth and substantially the same as the width of the slot. The bottom of the axle or the slot may be curved, or formed with a central protuberance, to permit the axle to rock transversely sufficiently to equalise the load on the two wheels. The cylinders 5 are cut away at each side, as at 27, to clear the ends of the axles, and the wheels 29 may be journalled on the axles by ball, roller, or plain bearings 28. The ,axle and plunger may be separated by a tube which is a force fit in one of them and a rocking fit in the other, and pressure oil from the cylinder 5 passes through the tube 34, ducts 32, 30, 36 and depressions 37 in the axle, to lubricate the pressure faces of each bearing 28. The depressions 37 each have an area slightly less than half the end area of the plunger.
