Abstract

527,174. Moulding. SHAW & SONS (SALFORD), Ltd., J., and SHAW, J. B. April 3, 1939, No. 10285. [Class 87 (ii)] Two-part moulds or dies for hot press working are provided with projections and sockets arranged at the ends of the mould and adapted to allow relative movement of the parts in the direction of their length. Registering parts may also be provided on the transverse axis of the mould and, if desired, may allow relative movement in the transverse direction. In the form shown dowel pins e are arranged on the central longitudinal axis of the core c and comprise a cylindrical part e<SP>1</SP> embedded in the upper plate d and a lower square-headed part bevelled on its longitudinal sides, and engage slots f formed in the lower plate b. Dowels g, h are also arranged on the transverse axis and are cylindrical throughout and of greater length than the members e. Both platens contain electrical heating elements in grooves j closed by plates k. Specifications 466,529 and 485,392 are referred to.
