Abstract
516,842. Paper carrier bags. SAUNDERS & SON, Ltd., E., and MOORE, P. July 26, 1938, No. 22164. [Class 146 (ii)] [Also in Group XVII] A closure for a carrier bag or an envelope consists of a tongue 8, Fig. 4,' cut in one part and a hole 3 narrower than the broad part\of the tongue cut in the other part. The hole may be of H-shape. The tongue may be cut in a flap 5 and pass through a hole cut in both front and back of the bag. Or, it may be cut in the back of the bag and pass through holes cut in the front and the flap. Or, the tongue in the back may engage a hole in the front only, Fig. 5, and a flap 5 may be held closed by a carrier cord 6. The cut and perforated parts may be reinforced. In the case of an envelope tongues and slots may be provided at each side. The closure may take the form of a separate folded sheet provided with tongue and hole. It is placed over the mouth of a bag and the tongue is then passed through slots in the front and back of the bag and the hole in the folded sheet.
