515,242. Gravity-separation apparatus. HARTLEY, E. July 28. 1938, No. 22421. [Class 46] [Also in Group XXI] Liquid flows from tanks through a vertically adjustable weir member 13 slidably mounted at the upper end of a vertical outlet pipe 10, the adjustable member carrying a cisc valve 21 whereby the outlet is closed when the member and the valve are urged downwards to their lowest position. The flange 19, which determines the overflow level, is connected by pillars 20 to the disc valve 21 having a rubber facing 25 which seats on the upper end of the outlet pipe 10 or on a sleeve 18 cf non- corrodible metal. Four or more such adjustable outlets may be located in a chamberconnected to a settlement tank, each being raised or lowered by mechanism connected to its operating rod 23. The joint between the fixed and movable pipes may be made by a rubber ring.
