Abstract

514,990. Thermionic relay circuits. TAGLIABUE MANUFACTURING CO., C. J. March 18, 1938, No. 8412. Convention date, April 17, 1937. Addition to 512,984. Drawings to Specification. [Class 40 (v)] [Also in Groups XXXVIII and XXXVI] The control system of the automaticallybalanced bridge type described in the parent Specification and wherein a mirror galvanometer controls the balance motor by means of a photoelectric cell, a therm'onic valve amplifier and relays controlled by anode current, is modified in the following respects : (1) the grid bias control circuit arranged to provide two different time-constants under control of the relays is replaced by a circuit independent of the relays and comprising a capacity and resistance in series shunted by a resistance, to effect an initial rapid response of the valve (2) the shunt resistances which the relays connect up on operation are of such value as to cause the appropriate relay to vibrate when the system is approaching balance from either direction so that balance is effected in a step-by-step manner, but this vibration does not occur on rapid deviations of the galvanometer, (3) a resistance is included in the anode circuit to minimize current variation due to the inclusion of the shunt resistances on the relays.
