Abstract

514,327. Roller mills. KLEIN, F. W., and IRLE GES., H. May 3, 1938, No. 13140. [Class 59] [Also in Groups XXII, V and XXIV] Rolling-mill rolls particularly auxiliary supporting rolls and rolls for use in the rubber, dye, and paper industries &c. have the operative .surface foimed on a sleeve secured on the roll body by a shrinkage fit aided by grooves and collars that prevent lateral creeping during use. 'The sleeve b is bored for a shrink fit on the body a and on a locating collar c near which a second collar d is formed to co-operate with a clearance groove e in the sleeve. The size of the collar d permits assembly prior to shrinking on. In a modification the collar c is dispensed with and the collar d is formed on one side to act as stop collar, the body being turned to different diameters on the two sides of the collar which is centrally located. In this case the groove and collar have peripheral clearance only.
