Abstract

507,998. Boxes for cigarettes &c, CHALMERS,-J. W., and MQLINS MACHINE CO., Ltd. Sept. 22, 1937, Nos. 25735/37, 30247/37, 34716/37, and 253/38. [Class 18] A box e.g. for cigarettes, crayons, or other rod-shaped articles is made as shown in Fig. 2 from a blank as in Fig. 1, corner portions 45, 46 being such that they engage resiliently within the lid corners. Portions 32, 33 and 42, 43 may if desired-be omitted. A liner in the front And end walls may be constituted from the blank shown in Fig. 6, and lugs 61, 62 projecting at the top corners of the lining to increase the grip of the lid'and panels 59, 60 forming, if desired, a partition extending from front to' back. Such a box may also be trapeziumshaped in cross section, the longer side constituting the front. Also the lid may be arranged to hinge about two parallel lines. The lining may also have resilient fingers arranged along its bottom or top edge which spring up into the space vacated by a cigarette &c. when this is withdrawn to keep the remainder in position. A lining of metal foil may be engaged between the front of the container and the front of the lining, and a piston or coupon may be located between the front wall and the lining.
