Abstract
507,178. Calculating - apparatus. BRITISH TABULATING MACHINE CO. Ltd. Dec. 10, 1937, No. 34307. Convention date, Dec. 12, 1936. Addition to 485,103. [Class 106 (i)] The counter-unit described in the parent Specification is modified in that the constantly rotatable clutch part 32 (which is engaged by the cam member 38) and the toothed ring 36 on the counter wheel 35 are pivoted eccentrically of each other, are of different diameters, and have different numbers of teeth; the eccentricity being equal to the difference in radii of the two parts 32 and 36. Such a counter-unit permits of non-decimal working, e.g. twelfths. U.S.A. Specification 2,076,743 is referred to, for circuits which are controlled to enter twelfths. Each pair of the present units is mounted on a separate, removable plate 27 and may be substituted for the counter units shown in Specification 372,365.
