Abstract

497,998. Current collectors for electric vehicles. POLLOPAS PATENTS, Ltd., and OSTER, L. E. W. MONTROSE-. May 27, 1938, No. 15926. Convention date, May 27, 1937. [Class 104 (iii)] A current-collector comprises two sliding contacts 9, 10 on a trolly head carried by a pantograph &c. 1, the contacts being mounted on a U-shaped yoke 4 which is pivoted by bolts 7, 8 to a plate 3 provided with arcuate slots for the bolts, and pivoted to the top bolt 2 of the pantograph. The yoke 4 carries a U-shaped strut 5 between which and the yoke the plate 3 lies. By this construction the two contacts 9, 10 are pressed with equal force against the wire at starting in spite of the lag of the trolly-head, since the bolt 2 can pivot on one of the bolts 7, 8 according to the direction of travel of the vehicle. The ends of the two contacts are connected by a curved yoke 6.
