Abstract

[Class 78 (i)] A vibratory clearing device for a hopper c comprises a hollow body b immersed in the material in the hopper and having located therein a vibrator a. The body b may be cylindrical, spherical or of other shape, and, as shown, is suspended by a tube d, and a chain f or other flexible mean's, from a support g resiliently mounted on fixed parts i, The vibrator a may be actuated electrically, pneumatically, or mechanically by means of a flexible cable. The arrangement is preferably such that the frequency of vibration varies between zero and a maximum, and passes through the resonant frequency of the suspended system.
