Abstract

A plastic composition particularly for use as a floor or wall covering comprises a fibrous or woody aggregate other than cork, cement containing up to 25 per cent silica, e.g. Portland cement, rubber latex of about 75 per cent concentration, and a 10-15 per cent aqueous solution of bone glue, or bone glue and casein, and an alkali metal salt, e.g. potassium carbonate. The aggregate may be derived from hardwood, nuts, asbestos or ebonite which contains fibrous fillers. The cement, the aggregate and the latex may be coloured before mixing with one or more dyestuffs or pigments. Specification 441,765 is referred to. The Provisional Specification states that the aggregate may be cork dust or cork wool.
